How do I enable and use Speech-To-Text on an Apple Device?
Speech-To-Text allows your device to convert vocal speech into written text. to enable and use this on an Apple device, follow these instructions.
Prerequisites
Instructions to enable Speech-To-Text
Step 1
Launch the Settings app.
Step 2
Tap on General.
Step 3
Scroll down to the bottom and tap on Keyboard.
Step 4
Toggle 'Enable Dictation' to On.
Step 5
Tap 'Enable Dictation' to agree to Apple's privacy notification.
Step 6
If you're worried about the privacy notification, tap 'About dictation and privacy' and read the details.
Step 7
Tap Done when you're satisfied.
How to use Speech-To-Text
Step 1
Click the microphone icon on your Apple Device Keyboard
Step 2
You can start speaking when it looks like this. Speak as clear as possible
Step 3
Click the keyboard icon to return back to the default keyboard.
Troubleshooting
- This specific feature is only available on Apple devices. Similar speech dictation features can be found in Windows or Chromebook devices.
